Aisling Svennungsen is the creator of Moss Follows, a jewelry line inspired by nature. She grew up in New England and then spent years working, traveling the western states, and attending community college before earning her BA from RISD in 2012. During her time as an artist in residence at the Sitka Center for Art and Ecology, in Otis, Oregon, she had the physical and mental space to refine some experiments from college and years prior. She drew endless inspiration from slow hikes through the Cascade Mountains and meditations on the beach below. She didn't know it at the time, but that's where Moss Follows was born. Water hollows, moss follows. This became the Aisling's guiding principle as she sat with her work for hours and realized it was like sitting with a waterfall. Time passes, water carves out rock and earth, and moss creeps in after it. Aisling's thoughtful designs fill organic, gentle spaces, and she makes wearable art that invokes a sense of wonder and enchantment.

With her combined traditional jewelry training and self-taught crochet and inventive knot work, Aisling makes jewelry using new and vintage chains of raw brass, copper, silver-plate, gold-plate, and sterling silver that are lightweight but strong. She makes every single component (ear wires, clasps, hoops, etc.) by hand, using either sterling silver or 14k gold-filled wire. Gemstones, crystals, and beads are sourced from local vendors and from her travels to various rock shops in and around California.

Aisling designs and creates each piece in her Northern California home studio, often in the company of her beloved furry mutt, Jasper.
